Bar Crawl, Alleycat, Polo

"'Tis the season". Someone held the door for me at the post office and said that. Someone almost hit me at a 4way stop while not signaling and talking into his cell and I said that. Anyway, it IS the season for urban bicycle mayhem and this weekend is chock full. Saturday 12/15 Frozen Parts Booze Cruise Meet at Hyde Park Pub at 6PM. Decorate your bike, drink yourself silly. A lot of people on a lot of different types of bikes going to a few bars and drinking too much. Free to ride, you pay for drinks and tip your bartenders and servers. Raffle and poker run probable. Sunday 12/16 Charlie's Birthday CoffeeCat Race/Benefit Meet at Fairview Park (N 23rd/Bannock) 10:30 AM. Bring bicycle parts or even a bike you're not using to donate to Project Ride, see for more info. Also bring a bike for you to ride, a coffee mug and 5 dollar bills. Get your race on, get over caffeinated then head to North Junior High for Bicycle Polo If you already play then you know what's up, if not here's the deal: You need a bike with a little spinny gear that you don't mind gettin banged up. You need a mallet, but for first-timers there are always extras lying around. We play 3 on 3 on the basketball court. First team to 5 goals wins, 15 minute clock in the event of a tie. Ladies and gentlemen, start your livers. P77

10.17.38 - 11.30.07

If you were a kid in the States in the 70's, Evel Knievel's passing bums you out.I never owned one of those cool EK windup motorcycle toys like my cousin but not a day went by I didn't wish for one, still kinda do. A master of two-wheels, he apparantly rode anything and everything, breaking at least 40 bones in the process. FORTY. Pour some on the curb, son.
They broke the mold with this one.

I (43) went to the famebuilding class at UBI in Ashland ,ORE and came home with this beauty. I picked up my new welding machine yesterday and with a few more bits of equipment I'll be in full production mode. Hopefully not too far into the new year I'll be taking orders and making custom bike frames. Sh*t, F*cking , Yeah! That's what I'M talkin' about!

Rock an Roll

I flipped on the shitbox tonite and before the screen warmed up I heard London Calling played by someone other than the Clash.
Even weirder was the picture coming in to reveal Dave Grohl, Bruce Springsteen, Elvis Costello and the guy from the Sopranos (Steven Van Zandt?) standing on a stage belting it out.
The bass player wasn't Flea and I don't know who was behind the drums.
Not a bad version and probably the best song The Boss has played in 20 years.
Actually, The Modern has a lil turntable and some 45's in the bathroom and I find myself always playing I'm Going Down which isn't a bad song and fitting when you flush. Nebraska is probably in my top 20 (at least in what I have on vinyl) so I shouldn't badmouth him. I had Hungry Heart on 45 as a kid.
I also had the Should I Stay or Should I Go single with a great B-Side called Long Time Jerk. My brother and I would set up a little stage with Adventure People and fabricate tiny instruments and crank the tunes and use flashlights to make a little sold-out concert. Almost as fun as using the entire kitchen countertop as a town for our Matchbox cars. Mom killed that buzz when she found Tim's Datsun 280-Z in the garbage disposal.
Anyway, The Clash still rule.

Saturday Cyclocross Action!

Saturday morning was spent enjoying some local 'cross racing at Eagle Island State Park. Ben Raced. He makes growling noises as he slips around in the mud. Good job Ben. Note: that's not Ben on the bike. He's in the one in the vest. Grrrrr.
Check this out:
Silver Warner
This is a messenger friend of ours who we've known for about twelve years now. Both 77 and 43 have worked with Silver at Quicksilver (at different times). 43 then followed him to Express Network (legal) before Silver moved to NYC. Silver and 43 raced together at the fixed gear only alleycat race at the Messenger World Championships in 1996. We wish him well....and free.

Hope to see all you out for the race in the cold.Look for teaser flyers soon. Race will be in January.Get your cross bikes ready, can you say Alley Cross!!! stay tuned for more info." Fuck yeah, do it in the dirt. This page will have updates and/or links to the race as we get 'em. Until then, why aren't you out playing polo? Sundays, Noon, Camel's Toe Park. Get some. Seven Deadly Spins

The Warlocks Bicycle Club would like to thank everyone that raced, helped,
watched and enjoyed our Third and largest Halloween alleycat yet.
When we hosted our first Boise race on Cinco de Mayo 2005, we had
23 people show up. On Saturday we had prepared for 75 contestants and
found ourselves looking at 98 racers ready to rock. Fucking awesome.
I know that we ran out of spokecards around 72 so we'll be making more
this week. Check this blog for a time/place to pick em up.
I have to take the blame for the 11th street address fuck up. Sorry.
Most of you rolled with it and figured out the actual stop but I still feel like shit.
Chris was trying all weekend to get me to roll the course with him to prevent
a problem just like that. Sorry gang, I'll pay more attention next time.
Thank you again for riding safely and being so well behaved at the
checkpoints and finish line. Please support the establishments we sent
you to and the companies that gave us products to give away.Huge kudos to Nick and Andoni at Leku Ona for going out of their way (on an extremely busy nite and even shorter notice) to make the afterparty as rad as it was.Thank you to the Symposion,The Neurloux (it's ONE ELEVEN 11th jackass!) and The Emerald Club for allowing you to run thru their bars. Thanks to our stop workers: Sara,Ryan,Jason,Rob and Bobby & Jen.Thanks to Vaughn for the use of his kegerator. Thanks to these excellent cycling/cycling-friendly companies for their generous offerings: New Belgium Brewery, Freight Mess bags, Dank Bags, Trek, Shimano, Cateye, Polar Pak, Bikes-2-Boards, George's, Ink Vision and someone cool I'm sure I forgot. MaidenBoise or Thomas Hammer probably.
I will post pix on photobucket later this week.
See you at the next race (Inversion Excursion 3?).
